Privacy

What data about visitors the OrgCatalog site collects, what is stored in the browser and what is not published in photos. The site has no registration and no forms.

Traffic counters

Two counters run on all pages, to understand which sections visitors need:

The counters set their own cookies and receive the IP address, the page address and the type of device and browser. The site author sees only summary statistics and session recordings without names or contacts. You can opt out with an ad blocker, the browser's tracking protection or the extensions Google Analytics Opt-out and Yandex Metrica opt-out — the site works fully without counters.

Like any web server, the site's server keeps technical request logs: the IP address, the page address, the time and the browser. They are needed to run and protect the site and are not passed to anyone.

What is saved in the browser

Search, scanner and EXIF viewer

Code search runs in the browser: the site loads the code index and searches in it. If there are several matches or none, the results page opens — the entered code ends up in its address (?q=…) and, like any page address, into the server logs and the counters.

The barcode scanner turns on the camera only when you press the button and with your permission. Frames are recognised right in the browser, video and pictures are not sent anywhere; the camera turns off after recognition, with the “Close” button and when you leave the tab.

View EXIF also reads the chosen photo in the browser: the file, its date and coordinates are not sent to the server. The result is hidden from Metrica Webvisor recording, and links to maps with the photo's coordinates open directly, without the redirect page /go/, so the shooting location reaches neither the counters nor the server log. Likewise, the EXIF removalalso runs in the browser: the photo is cleaned on the device and is not sent.

People and personal data in photos

Photos are taken for the sake of price tags, shop windows, signboards and objects, not people. Every photo is reviewed before publication:

How to remove a photo or data

If a photo shows you, your car, your house or other personal data, or an organization wants to correct information about itself, write to the author through the contacts page and attach a link to the photo or the page. The photo will be removed or the face blurred in the next site update; a photo that has been removed also disappears from the map and from the feed.

Frequently asked questions

Does the site collect my personal data?

The site itself does not: it has no registration, forms or comments. The Yandex Metrica and Google Analytics counters collect anonymised visit statistics.

How do I turn off the counters?

Turn on tracking protection or an ad blocker in your browser, or install the official opt-out extensions for Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica. The site works fully without counters.

I or my car can be seen in a photo — what should I do?

Write to the project author and send a link to the photo: the photo will be removed or the face blurred in the next site update. Contacts
